Aira Force is a spectacular waterfall set amongst beautiful woodland on the western shore of
Ullswater near Glenridding. Owned by the National
Trust, the gentle uphill walks through the woodland to Aira Force have been enjoyed by visitors since the Victorian era.
Aira Force is one of the prettiest and most romantic of Lakeland's waterfalls and can be viewed from the stone footbridges that span Aira Beck immediately above and below the 70 foot drop.
In the National Trust car park at the foot of the walk there is a tea room, toilets and information, and the woodland is home to gorgeous native red squirrels, a species that is sadly in decline.
